  1. Si estás bien y ellos también, procede a tomar foto de la placa y del número de VIN. If you're OK and they're OK, go ahead and take a photo of the plate and the VIN number.

  4. Si el otro conductor está herido, llama al 911 y quédate a su lado hasta que llegue la ayuda. If the other driver is hurt, call 911 and stay by their side until help arrives.

    NO muevas a la persona a menos que su vida esté en peligro inmediato. Mover a alguien con una lesión en cuello o columna puede empeorar el daño. DO NOT move the person unless their life is in immediate danger. Moving someone with a neck or spine injury can make it worse.

  • Si el conductor está agresivo o no coopera, quédate sentado dentro de tu vehículo, llama a la policía, describe la escena y espera a que lleguen. If the driver is aggressive or uncooperative, stay seated inside your vehicle, call the police, describe the scene, and wait for them to arrive.

  • Si el otro conductor te pide que no llames a la policía y se ofrece a "hacerse responsable" arreglando tu carro, estás tomando un riesgo innecesario que puede salir muy caro. If the other driver asks you not to call the police and offers to "take responsibility" by fixing your car, you're taking an unnecessary risk that can be very costly.

  • Si llega una ambulancia, pide siempre que te revisen los signos vitales. Acepta ir al hospital solo si entiendes que hay una situación de emergencia (fracturas, dislocaciones, sangrado o hemorragia, pérdida de conciencia, o cualquier otra condición seria). Agree to go to the hospital only if you understand it's an emergency situation (fractures, dislocations, bleeding or hemorrhage, loss of consciousness, or any other serious condition). Without that emergency criterion, hospital records most likely won't support your claim.
